The E-Transit has standard driver and passenger side airbags combined with three-point seat belts, a combination which is 29% more effective in preventing injury and death than seatbelts alone. The BrightDrop doesn’t offer a passenger side airbag, only driver’s.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Ford E-Transit are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Chevrolet BrightDrop doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The E-Transit has standard Post-Collision Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The BrightDrop doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

The E-Transit’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The BrightDrop doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the E-Transit and the BrightDrop have standard driver’s frontal airbag, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

Ford’s powertrain warranty covers the E-Transit 3 years and 40,000 miles longer than Chevrolet covers the BrightDrop. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the BrightDrop ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The E-Transit’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the BrightDrop’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

The E-Transit’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 65 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the BrightDrop’s standard 75 series tires.

The E-Transit has a standard full size spare so a flat doesn’t interrupt your work or a trip. A full size spare costs extra on the BrightDrop. Without the option you must depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

For superior ride and handling, the Ford E-Transit has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The Chevrolet BrightDrop has a solid rear axle, with a non-independent rear suspension.

The E-Transit has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the E-Transit flat and controlled during cornering. The BrightDrop’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

The front and rear suspension of the E-Transit uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the BrightDrop, which uses leaf springs in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

The E-Transit’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The BrightDrop doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better maneuverability, the E-Transit T350 Long’s turning circle is 7 feet tighter than the BrightDrop 400’s (47.8 feet vs. 54.8 feet).

The E-Transit’s driver’s power window opens or closes with one touch of the window control, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths. The BrightDrop’s power windows’ switch has to be held the entire time to close it fully.

The E-Transit’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The BrightDrop’s available power window controls are down in the center of the dashboard, away from the windows and mixed with controls for unrelated features.

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the E-Transit’s available exterior PIN entry system. The BrightDrop doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system, and its OnStar® can’t unlock the doors if the vehicle doesn’t have cell phone reception or the driver can’t contact the service.

In addition to the standard right side sliding door, the Ford E-Transit offers an optional driver’s side rear sliding door. This door simplifies loading and unloading passengers and it allows parents to easily secure two children into child seats. The BrightDrop doesn’t offer a driver’s side rear door.

The E-Transit’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The BrightDrop’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.

The E-Transit’s optional rear view mirror has an automatic dimming feature. This mirror can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on it, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The BrightDrop doesn’t offer the luxury of an automatic dimming rear view mirror.

Both the Ford E-Transit and Chevrolet BrightDrop offer exterior mirrors that can be folded to provide convenience. The E-Transit offers optional power folding mirrors, which allow for easy, one-touch folding or unfolding at the driver’s discretion. This provides added convenience when maneuvering or parking, as well as when walking past the parked vehicle. In comparison, the BrightDrop’s foldable mirrors are manual, requiring the driver to get out and physically fold them once parked and unfold them before getting in.

The E-Transit has a standard center folding armrest for the driver and front passenger. A center armrest helps combat driver fatigue. The BrightDrop doesn’t offer a front seat center armrest.

The E-Transit’s optional Enhanced Active Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The BrightDrop doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
